As previously announced, Amazon Prime Video is now offering Apple TV+ content directly inside its app. Prime Video users can subscribe to Apple TV+ at the regular price of $9.99 per month, with a seven-day free trial for new subscriptions.
The experience is still rolling out, but it seems that the entire catalog of Apple original TV shows and movies are available, including latest releases like the new limited series Disclaimer.
By bringing TV+ inside Prime Video, it helps expand the reach and discoverability of Apple’s content. By most metrics, the Prime Video app is the second most popular streaming app in the United States, only behind Netflix.
With the new partnership, Apple has an opportunity to convert people who have never even downloaded its Apple TV app before, into Apple TV+ subscribers.
There’s no price-value benefit, and none of the TV+ content comes free with Prime Video subscription, but it just makes it easier and more convenient for people to subscribe, especially those who may have been considering checking out Apple’s content before but never quite pulled the trigger.
TV+ inside Prime Video also gives the most direct route for non-Apple users to subscribe to TV+ for the first time, especially Android phone owners. Apple still does not offer an Android-compatible version of the TV app for phones and tablets. But now, Android users can simply subscribe using their Amazon billing through the Prime Video app on their device.
