visionOS 2.2 adds new Wide and Ultrawide settings for Mac Virtual Display

Apple released the first beta of visionOS 2.2 for developers today. The update comes with an exciting change for Apple Vision Pro users: new “Wide” and “Ultrawide” settings when using Mac Virtual Display.

Apple says that the Ultrawide setting is the equivalent of using two 4K monitors side by side. Like most visionOS windows, you can stretch the Mac Virtual Display to be as wide or narrow as you like.

The new Mac Virtual Display settings are managed via a new button that floats above the window. You can tap on it to switch between “Normal,” “Wide,” and “Ultrawide.”

visionOS 2.2 is currently available to developer beta testers. Apple does not offer a public beta of visionOS. The update is expected to be released to the general public in December.
