Shazam, the song recognition service that Apple acquired in 2018, today announced a major milestone: its users have now identified more than 100 billion songs.

The most identified song is Dance Monkey, by Tones and I, which has been recognized by Shazam more than 45 million times.

While the standalone Shazam app remains available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, Shazam has been increasingly integrated into Apple’s operating systems and services.

For instance, you can add a Song Recognition widget to Control Center, to detect songs playing inside apps or heard through the microphone. You can also assign the Shazam Music Recognition feature to the Action button on iPhone 15 and later models.

With watchOS 11, your Apple Watch proactively adds a Music Recognition shortcut to the Smart Stack, when the watch hears that loud music is playing nearby.

Apple Music is also integrating Shazam data with various playlists, including Radio Spins to track what songs are being played most frequently on broadcast radio stations.
