TL;DR
- With the Pixel Watch 3, Fitbit has introduced a newly improved Readiness Score based on an updated algorithm for more precise results.
- The device also debuts Cardio Load, which tracks exertion, and Target Load, which personalizes users’ daily activity goals.
- Each of the features is now available to all users, not just Fitbit Premium members.
The Google Pixel Watch line already offered users a fairly robust health and fitness tracking experience, with accurate sensors and thorough Fitbit integration. The latest model, however, the Google Pixel Watch 3, joins the growing trend of more holistic and personalized monitoring. Just like we saw Apple announce individualized tracking features earlier this summer, Fitbit has revamped its approach to activity tracking on Google’s newest smartwatch.
In addition to added guidance and tools for runners, the Pixel Watch 3 introduces new features meant to help users focus on recovery and training balance. These include an improved Readiness Score, which utilizes an updated algorithm to provide more precise measurements, as well as Cardio Load, which tracks users’ heart rate exertion throughout the day to offer insights about their training status.

Most prominently, however, the device features the new metric Target Load. The tool delivers personalized daily targets to your wrist to help you maximize your performance without jeopardizing recovery or risking injury. This means you’ll no longer be encouraged (read: bullied) to accumulate 10,000 steps a day but instead receive customized targets based on what is actually best for your body.
Along with a Readiness Score, Target Load will be delivered via Fitbit Morning Brief, another new feature of the Pixel Watch 3. This tool is similar to Garmin’s Morning Report. It automatically appears on the device when you wake to provide insights that are relevant to the upcoming day as well as details like the previous night’s sleep stats and the upcoming weather. By starting their day with digested stats via Morning Brief, Pixel Watch 3 users can better plan their activity and approach the day in a more balanced manner
Most importantly, these features are available to all Pixel Watch users, not just Fitbit Premium members. Premium members can, of course, access even more features, including personalized wellness tools like daily run recommendations. Those workouts are AI-generated and directly relate to the users’ Target Loads. Such advanced features may be handy to some but are not as universally useful as those mentioned above, which are available to all.
In general, it is clear that Google intends to personalize the experience Pixel Watch 3 users can access and provide more holistic guidance toward healthy lifestyles.
