Matternet, a provider of urban delivery drone technology, recently partnered with ANRA Technologies, a developer of unmanned aircraft system traffic management (UTM). Matternet will integrate ANRA’s UTM capabilities with its software to manage fleets of drones.

This partnership follows Matternet’s recent launch of a drone delivery operation in Silicon Valley. It said this collaboration will help scale its drone networks as it progresses toward home deliveries. The home delivery service has also been piloted in Mountain View and Sunnyvale, California.

“With our home delivery service now live in Silicon Valley, our focus is on expanding our operations to serve more communities,” Andreas Raptopoulos, founder and CEO of Matternet, said. “Working with ANRA Technologies provides us with additional UTM capabilities that will help us scale our delivery networks while maintaining the highest safety standards for Beyond Visual Line of Sight operations in shared airspace. This supports our vision of deploying Matternet’s technology across every major urban and suburban area in the United States and Europe.”

The parties will focus on integrating UTM solutions that support the management of Matternet drones and their flight paths for strategic deconfliction with other drones, reducing the risk of collision. Additionally, they will work toward the integration of Matternet drones within a comprehensive UTM system. This will enable the company to scale its operations safely and efficiently, ensuring reliable integration into urban airspace while meeting regulatory standards.

“We are excited to partner with Matternet to advance urban drone delivery. By integrating our airspace management solutions, we aim to facilitate safe and efficient airspace operations, allowing Matternet to expand their services while enabling interoperability with other users such as public safety agencies who want to fly in the same airspace,” Amit Ganjoo, CEO of ANRA Technologies, said.

Matternet is a developer of commercial drone delivery systems for urban and suburban environments. The company builds the Matternet M2 drone and Matternet Software Platform and operates its technology directly for customers or in partnership with logistics organizations, such as UPS. Matternet’s achievements include being authorized for commercial Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone delivery operations over cities in Switzerland, launching routine revenue-generating operations in the U.S., and achieving standard Type Certification and Production Certification by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration.
