Apple has issued new software updates for MacOS Sonoma 14.7 and MacOS Ventura 13.7, for users who are not yet installing the freshly released MacOS Sequoia 15.0 system software upgrade.
Both MacOS Sonoma 14.7 and MacOS Ventura 13.7 contain security fixes, and are therefore recommended to all Mac users. There are no new features or major changes otherwise.
Mac users will also find Safari 18.0 available to download for Sonoma and Ventura as well, otherwise Safari 18.0 is bundled with Sequoia.
How to Download & Install MacOS Sonoma 14.7 Update or MacOS Ventura 13.7
The typical advice to backup your Mac with Time Machine remains valid, so do that first.
- Go to the Apple menu, and then select “System Settings”
- From System Settings, go to “General”, and then go to “Software Update”
- Look for the “Also available” section below the MacOS Sequoia banner and click on the tiny blue text that says “More Info…”
- Select MacOS Sonoma 14.7 / MacOS Ventura 13.7, and Safari 18.0, and choose to “Update Now” to begin downloading and installing those updates
You have to specifically choose the MacOS Sonoma 14.7 or MacOS Ventura 13.7 update from the “More Info” section, otherwise if you just click the upgrade now button from Software Update you will begin the process of upgrading to MacOS Sequoia 15.0 instead.
The Mac must restart to finish installing.
