MacOS Sequoia, versioned as macOS 15, is an exciting new operating system for Mac users. MacOS Sequoia includes a variety of intriguing new features that could make you even more productive while using your Mac, including iPhone Mirroring, new window tiling features, AI enhancements to Safari and Mail, a dedicated Passwords app, new screen savers and wallpapers, and more.

If you’re curious about whether your Mac will be eligible for this update, we’ve
compiled a list of all Macintosh computers and devices that are supported by macOS Sequoia.

List of Macs Supporting MacOS Sequoia

Macs that are able to run macOS Sequoia 15 are the following:

  • MacBook Air – 2020 and later
  • MacBook Pro – 2018 and later
  • iMac – 2019 and later
  • Mac mini – 2018 and later
  • Mac Studio – 2022 and later
  • iMac Pro – 2017 and later
  • Mac Pro – 2019 and later

As you can see, the system requirements are fairly strict compared to some prior releases of MacOS, and other than a handful of high end machines, are mostly modern Apple Silicon equipped Macs, though a few Intel Macs make the cut too.

Apple Silicon Macs have access to the full AI features available in macOS Sequoia, whereas Intel Macs running Sequoia do not.

How do I know what Mac model and year I have?

Go to the  Apple menu and choose “About This Mac”, here you will see a screen that reveals the Mac model, chip, and model year.

Only Apple Silicon Macs Support Apple Intelligence AI

It’s worth pointing out that Intel Macs that run macOS Sequoia will not have Apple Intelligence AI features.

Apple Intelligence AI features requires a Mac with an Apple Silicon chip, anything that is an M1 or better.
