A regulatory filing reveals that the iPad mini 7 charging speed is limited to 20W, the same as its predecessor.

This means that the device will take around an hour to charge to 70%, and about two hours to go from empty to fully-charged – significantly slower than the speeds offered by some Android tablets …

We noted yesterday that the latest iPad mini is rather a small upgrade over the mini 6, even three years later.

It feels like Apple did pretty much the minimum necessary here, which includes using the oldest possible processor capable of running Apple Intelligence […]

It’s not smaller or lighter, nor does it have any design enhancements. Battery life is unchanged. The camera is the same, other than a tiny upgrade from Smart HDR 3 to 4. The display is completely unchanged.

A regulatory filing spotted by 91Mobiles shows that this extends to the charging speed too.

While Apple doesn’t usually reveal the specifications like the battery capacity or fast charging details, the new iPad Mini 7th generation stopped at 3C certification, as spotted by 91mobiles. This reveals the charging details […]

The 3C listing suggests the Apple iPad mini (2024) A2996 will only support 20W fast charging support (9VDC X 2.22A).

The site notes that this is slow by the standards of some competitor tablets.

For comparison, the OnePlus Pad 2 supports 67W fast charging.

While the more apt comparison here might be to larger iPads, even the iPad Pro models are limited to 30W.
