Apple is always working on new products, including iterations to its current device lineup like the iPhone and more. In his most recent newsletter, Mark Gurman has laid out Apple’s big plans for its existing devices. Here’s what’s coming with future iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch models.
Coming soon to Apple’s most popular products
Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter focuses primarily on Apple’s efforts to build additional successful businesses to power future growth. For example, he outlines home products and smart glasses as areas where Apple is investing.
Then he turns to some of the mainstay current products and Apple’s plans for their future.
In the nearer term, Apple will be focused on gradual improvements to its existing products. That means making Macs with faster chips, thinner designs and touch screens. Its iPads will become more versatile, with larger displays and foldable models. Apple Watches will get blood pressure and glucose monitoring. And the company will try to make its iPhones even more indispensable, with new designs, cameras and AI features.
Many of these details have been shared by Gurman before, but having them reiterated now provides a good expectation of near-term improvements for some of Apple’s most used products.
And there’s a lot to dive into.
We don’t know the specifics of models or release dates for these changes, but they give us a glimpse at the next big things in the works.
Summary and wrap-up
In summary, here’s what we can look forward to seeing from Apple:
- iPhone: New designs (like the 17 Air), plus cameras and AI features
- iPad: Larger displays and foldables
- Mac: Touch screens, thinner builds, faster chips
- Apple Watch: New health sensors for blood pressure and glucose
It sounds like the most radical changes are in store for the Mac and iPad. Adding touch to the Mac will be a significant shift for Apple, as will larger, foldable iPads.
With the iPhone and Apple Watch, however, while the changes sound great, they’re largely in line with the direction Apple’s already been moving.
