Apple last week announced the new iPad mini 7, which looks identical to its predecessor but this time is powered by the faster A17 Pro chip. As the new iPad arrives in stores tomorrow, Apple has just released the iPadOS 18.0.1 update for those who buy the iPad mini 7.

iPadOS 18.0.1 update available for iPad mini 7

iPadOS 18.0.1 is not exactly a new update. In fact, it was released for other iPad models earlier this month with important bug fixes and performance improvements. For instance, the update fixes a bug that affected the device’s performance due to a problem with memory allocation. It also fixed a critical bug that crashed M4 iPad Pro models.

Despite Apple advertising the new iPad mini 7 as ready for Apple Intelligence, the device will ship with the first build of iPadOS 18.0 released to the public in September. This means that it won’t come with Apple Intelligence tools built-in. Since Apple has already confirmed that iPadOS 18.1 will be released next week, users will have a minor update waiting for them until then.

The build number of iPadOS 18.0.1 made for the iPad mini 7 is 22A8380. As soon as you get your new iPad, make sure you update it to the latest software by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

More about the new iPad mini

In addition to the A17 Pro chip with 8GB of RAM, iPad mini 7 also features Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 for faster wireless connectivity. The USB-C port has also been updated with USB 3.1, which supports data transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbps (versus 5 Gbps on the previous model).

Pre-orders for the iPad mini 7 are now available on Apple’s website, but you can also find good deals on other iPad models on Amazon.
